How To Start

This document describes what steps you need to make in order to configure your admin panel:

Creating Your Administrative Account

When you get registered with the system (either directly "from the street" or submitting required information to the administrator), you receive a welcome e-mail with the login and password to your reseller account. Reseller account represents you as a user of the system and is a gateway to creating your administrative account. Administrative account is used to to group resources, set retail prices, edit plans, signup users, manage your users' accounts and the range of other administrative tools. See below for instructions on how to create and configure your administrative account.

1. Go to the login page at the URL that you received in your welcome e-mail.
2. Log into your reseller account with the login and password that you received in your welcome e-mail.
3. When you first log into your reseller account you'll be asked to create your administrative account and fill in the form below:

Submit this form, and your administrative account will be created.

Note:
Admin login and Admin password are used to log directly into your admin control panel.
Reseller login and Reseller password are used to log into your reseller account.

Configuring Your Admin Control Panel

When you have created your administrative account you can log into your admin control panel either directly from the street with your admin login/password or from your reseller account Info -> admin account:

Creating DNS zone to service your main domain

First, you will need to create so called 'service' DNS zone. This is required for:

  • replacing the URL of your login page and users control panels that contain references to your parent host with your own independent control panel URL,
    e.g.: r.41.res.parent_host.com:8080 to cp.your_own_domain.com:8080
  • the instant alias, to provide your users with a temporary access to their sites until the DNS servers throughout the world get updated and point users' domains to the appropriate IP;
  • third level domain hosting on the basis of your main domain name.

1. Go to E.Manager -> DNS Manager ->Add DNS zone.
2. Create DNS zone for your domain.
3. When you have created DNS zone to service your main domain, click the Edit icon in the Action section next to the DNS zone. Check if there are all the necessary built-in DNS records for your domain.
It should look similarly to the following table:

You might need to add some Custom DNS records.
* For more details, see Configuring Your DNS Settings, Admin guide.

Creating instant alias template

Instant alias template is required to generate instant aliases. These provide your users with a temporary access to their sites until the DNS servers throughout the world get updated and point users' domains to the appropriate IPs.
In your administrative account go to E.Manager -> DNS manager, click the Edit icon next to the DNS Zone you have created. Click the Add Instant Alias link. In the form you would be taken to enter the prefix and shared IP tag. This is done to distinguish between different templates. It proves very helpful in case you'd like to assign different instant alias templates to generate URL's for temporary access to users' sites under different plans.

*For more details see Configuring Your DNS Settings, Admin guide.

Adding server aliases

Server aliases are intended to exclude all the references to your parent host and make his servers transparent to your end clients. Use your own names for the servers of the parent hosting company. Your customers will see only your DNS server aliases, but the DNS zone will be registered on the same servers as those of the parent hosting company.

First, make sure the DNS zone for your main domain has been created with all the necessary built-in DNS records. Then go to E.Manager -> Server Aliases. In the page that appears, on the left you'll be able to enter your own host names and select service zones from those you have created with the DNS Manager; on the right you can see which server you are creating aliases for:

In the upper part of this form, enter your aliases for DNS servers. These aliases (e.g.: ns1.your.domain.com) must be registered with Network Solutions. Such registration requires a dedicated IP. To register two DNS aliases, you need two dedicated IPs.

In the lower part of this form, enter your aliases for all other logical servers in the system. They will show when users connect to your servers, for example, by FTP. These server names don't have to be registered anywhere, and you can enter any names you want. All you need is to have this DNS zone (e.g.: your.domain.com) registered with a domain registration company, such as OpenSRS or InterNIC.

When you are through with creating aliases, click the Submit button. Valid aliases are displayed as plain text, i.e. no drop-down boxes and the Trash Can icon will appear next to the record.

Changing reseller CP alias to his own CP URL

After the system configuration has been complete (which, also, includes creating and configuring plans and Other aspects of control panel configuration), the reseller control panel can be accessed by the instant reseller cp domain alias. When the DNS servers worldwide get updated, you can substitute it with a branded control panel URL. Select Change URL in the INFO menu of your reseller account :

On the page that appears, choose the protocol, enter the domain name and the port number for your control panel. The port must be the same as that of the parent hosting company. As a result, the URL of the control panel will be similar to http://cp.domain.com:8080.

It is also recommended that you back up your instant cp alias: you may need it whenever your custom control panel URL.
