Plan configuration and prices are changed with plan edit wizards. To run a
plan edit wizard, click Plans in the Info menu. In the list of
plans that appears, click the name of the plan you would like to edit.
For most plans, Edit Wizards guide you through the following steps:
- step 1:
- include or exclude particular resources;
- make them active by default;
- configure settings such as duration of trial period,
credit limit, money-back period, define default type
of IP, etc.
- step 2:
- change setup and monthly prices for the resources
included in the plan for the default billing
period (1 month), define the amount of free resources
etc.
- step 3 and the subsequent:
- change setup and recurrent prices for the resources
included in the plan for the actual billing periods,
define the amount of free resources etc. The number
of subsequent steps depends on the actual
billing periods for this plan.
Step 1
Select which resources will be included in the plan:

- Include: check the box to have the resource created
for every user subscribing for the plan. If you leave this
box unchecked, users of this plan will be unable to take advantage
of this resource.
- Activate: check the box to have the resource up and running for every
user immediately after signup. If you leave this box unchecked, the resource
will be down by default, but users will be able to activate it when necessary
and be charged for it only at the moment of activation.
IMPORTANT:
1. In the Domain types section, Service Domain should be included only
for system plan. For user-level plans, leave the Include box unchecked.
2. If you exclude any resources that are already in use by some users, they'll
remain functional but become inaccessible from the system control panel interface.
3. Some of the plan's resources are integral to the system and can not be excluded
from the plan, even though they are not laid out in the Plan Edit Wizards.
For more information on plan resources, please refer to Creating
New Plans.
Step 2 (prices)
Set the default billing period prices for the resources you
included in the plan on the first step.
*Notice: starting with version 2.08 validation for
prices doesn't distinguish between commas ","
and points ".". You should keep it in mind
when setting prices under a custom local encoding. In different
encodings commas (points) can be used before the fractions
(£2.95) or before a number of hundreds (€.1,320).
PRICES:
- Setup Fee: the single-time amount payable at
the moment when a unit of a specific resource is purchased.
For some resources setup fee is also charged when the
quota is changed (please refer to How
Are My Customers Billed?)
*Setup Fee changes apply only to new users signing
up under the edited plan.
- Monthly (i.e. recurrent fee): the
amount payable
- at the beginning of each billing period for the resource
purchased;
- when the suspended account is resumed;
- when a user changes the plan or switches to another
billing period which in its turn opens a new billing period.
*Monthly Fee changes apply only to new users signing
up under the edited plan.
- Extra (i.e. usage): payment for
every resource unit used over the set quota
- at the end of the billing period;
- when the account is suspended;
- when a user changes the plan or switches to another
billing period and the current billing period is closed.
*Extra changes apply both to existing and new users.
- Free: the number of resource units users will
initially get for free.
NOTICE: Some resources don't offer free units as they
can't be calculated.
*Free changes apply both to existing and new users.
The following example illustrates how it works:

Initially user signing up for the edited plan gets free 2Gb of summary traffic.
If it is insufficient for his needs he can purchase extra traffic at a price
$3 for each additional GB. If this amount is exceeded he will be charged $5
for each GB run over the quota which is made of 2 free GB plus what he's bought
additionally.
Examples of how price changes affect charges:
Setting
|
Resource
|
Summary Traffic
|
| Free |
2GB |
| Monthly (recurrent) |
$3 for 1GB |
| Extra (usage) |
$5 for 1GB |
| Billing period |
2 months |
Initially, a user got 2GB of free traffic for month.
That was insufficient, so he bought additional 2GB for month.
He was immediately charged $6 (2GBx$3) recurrent fee for the first month.
Total traffic quota became 4GB for month (2GB free + 2 GB additionally bought).
Over the month 6 GB of total traffic were generated.
It exceeded the total traffic quota by 2 GB.
At the end of the month he was charged $10 ($5 for 1 GB) of
usage fee.
The traffic was reset to 0.
At the beginning of the billing period's second month the
user was charged $6 recurrent fee (for additional 2 GB bought)
Somewhere in the middle of the billing period's second
month you changed the prices:
|
Increasing prices
|
Decreasing prices
|
| Free |
2GB -> 5GB |
Free: |
2GB -> 1GB |
| Monthly (recurrent) |
$3 -> $4 |
Monthly (recurrent) |
$3 -> $1 |
Extra (usage)
|
$3 -> $6
|
Extra (usage)
|
$3 -> $2
|
|
Over the second month there again 6 GB total traffic were generated.
This time the total traffic limit was exceeded by 2 GB, one of which now
was treated as free.
The user was charged $6 usage fee for only 1 GB overlimit.
Recurrent fee wasn't recalculated. And the user wasn't charged additional
recurrent fee.
At the beginning of the next billing period the user won't be charged
recurrent fee, because his additional 2 GB of traffic were overridden
by new 5 GB of free traffic quota.
Each GB above this limit generated over the month will be charged $6 usage
fee.
|
Over the second month there again 6GB of total traffic were generated.
This time the total traffic limit was decreased by 1 GB, and user limit
changed from 4 GB to 3 GB (1 GB free + 2 additional GB bought).
The user was charged $6 usage fee (2$ for each of 3 GB overlimit).
Recurrent fee wasn't recalculated and $6 recurrent fee wasn't returned
to the user.
At the beginning of the next billing period the user will be charged $2
recurrent fee for his additional 2 GB of traffic.
Each generated GB above 3Gb limit over the month will be charged $2 usage
fee.
|
Step 3 (and the
subsequent)
Set the prices for the actual payment interval(s) specified
at the top of the form for the resources included on the first
step. The prices must be entered for the whole billing period.
For example, if you are setting prices for a 6 month billing period,
you should enter the amount you would like to charge for all 6 months.
See how to add
different actual billing periods.
